Sweetland Amphitheatre’s first 2021 concert, featuring country music star Travis Tritt, completely sold out Tuesday, much to the delight of the theatre’s general manager, Katie McGinty.

“We are so excited,” McGinty said. “We were hoping we would sell out, but I wouldn’t say we were expecting to with so many other venues opening back up to full capacity.”

Tritt’s performance was rescheduled last year due to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic along with several others. Tritt’s performance was sold out back then as well, McGinty said. At least five of the concerts taking place this season are rescheduled from 2020.

Tritt will kick off the season this Friday with 14-time Grammy winner Emmylou Harris taking the stage the following Saturday, July 24.

Tickets for Harris and several of the other upcoming performers are still available, McGinty said. Such performers include Bethel Music (July 31), Styx (Aug. 8), Amy Grant (Aug. 14), Black Jacket Symphony (Aug. 20) and Steve Earle & the Dukes with Los Lobos (Aug. 28.) “[The show’s ticket sales] are doing really great,” McGinty said. “We have a lot of spots left, but a lot of them are well on their way.”

The concerts will be at full capacity, and masks will be optional, McGinty said. Hand sanitizer stations will be available. The concert will have an opening band, Prior and Lee, before Tritt takes the stage.

McGinty also said that more “big news” for Sweetland will come next week.
