Catherine Dowell, 78, of 104 Royal Court departed on Tuesday at Wellstar West Ga. Medical Center.

Mrs. Catherine Dowell, the daughter of the late John Wesley and Luevonia Hubbard, was born in Chipley, Georgia.

She joined Union Springs Baptist Church at an early age and was a member St. James CME Church.

Mrs. Catherine was a graduate of East Depot High School Class of 1962.

Mrs. Catherine retired from the Troup County School System after many years of service.

She leaves to cherish her memory loving sons; Kwesi (Yvonne) Dowell, Kofi Dowell of LaGrange and daughter Eboni Hayes, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two brothers Lonnie and McArthur Hubbard and one sister Annie Ruth McCrimmon all of Atlanta, one God son, Antione Green and God sister Delphine Tucker, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.

She is preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband Ed Dowell, by two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Union Springs Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Lovett Thornton officiating.

Chapel viewing will be on Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home
