The LaGrange City Council honored City Manager Meg Kelsey on Thursday on her 25 years of working for the city.

Kelsey, who has been the city’s manager since 2016, has led the city through some major changes over the last five years.

Kelsey began with the city of LaGrange as the development specialist before eventually becoming the assistant city manager and then the deputy city manager.

She’s also worked in finance, planning and development and human resources for the city.

In 2016, after the unexpected death of the city’s former city manager, Tom Hall, Kelsey was hired as the city’s official fifth city manager.

Kelsey is a major resource for our city. She’s led major projects and has been one of the driving forces of all of the development in LaGrange during her time working for the city. Often, Mayor Jim Thornton or the city council get the headlines — and they deserve it too — but Kelsey is in the background as the person who makes it all go.

We congratulate her on her 25 years with the city and hope she’s got another 25 years of service ahead of her.
