Suspect shoots friend in foot

On Aug. 2 at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers from the LaGrange Police Department responded to WellStar Medical Center at 1514 Vernon Road in regards to someone who had been shot, according to an LPD press release. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the juvenile victim, who had been shot in the foot.

The victim allegedly stated that he was in a car with the driver, Tytenia Russel, 21, a juvenile front seat passenger, his three-month-old child, who was in the back seat with him, and his friend only identified as “Quaz.”

The victim stated that “Quaz” was unloading a handgun while the car was travelling in the area of Williams Street. By accident, the gun went off, shooting the victim in the foot.  The victim told police after he realized he had been shot, his friend exited the vehicle. The driver transported the victim to the hospital. According to the press release, the victim and passengers refused to cooperate with police in helping to determine the identity or location of the shooter.
