The Kiwanis Club has teamed up with Ferrell Blair of LJL Ranch in LaGrange for a hamburger fundraiser and ground beef sale, a result of Blair having about 2000 pounds of premium ground beef on hand following a canceled beef order.

Blair had already processed the meat and packaged it at a USDA facility, he said, and having so much on hand was stalling his ability to process new orders.

He reached out to the Kiwanis Club, and they decided that the beef should be used to feed the community.

“It’s kind of a community effort to get this meat moved,” Blair said.

Saturday from 10 a.m.  to 4 p.m. or while supplies last, the Kiwanis Club will be at KIA of LaGrange selling the meat directly to the public at wholesale.

Some of the beef will be used for the Kiwanis Club’s ‘Buy a burger, help a kid fundraiser.’

A portion of the sales will go to the Kiwanis Club of LaGrange and be divided into some of their programs, club president Curt Snider said.

“I told [Blair] it was a good opportunity for the Kiwanis Club to come in and help him,” Snider said.

“We wanted to help a local farmer, who was kind enough to donate 100 pounds of that beef to the club [for the hamburger fundraiser.]”

Blair will have 1-pound packs and larger rolls from 7 to 9 pounds tubes available.

The Kiwanis Club will be selling the beef wholesale for $5 per pound and weights are stamped on each package. The ground beef is fresh-frozen and would sell in the store for over $7 per pound, Snider said. Mark Roland with B’s Meat Market and Backyard B’stro of LaGrange will also be at the event selling tacos.

Blair requests that individuals preorder their beef at https://www.ljlranch.com/ or LGL Ranch’s Facebook page.
