Walmart Supercenter in LaGrange, on New Franklin Road, will be closed starting at 2 p.m. Thursday until Saturday morning, according to a Facebook post from the store.

’The Walmart Supercenter in Lagrange will be temporarily closed at  2 p.m. today for additional cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking,” the post says.

“We will reopen on Saturday, August 28 at 6 a.m. Our pharmacy curbside service will remain open normal hours while the store is closed.”Ashley Nolan, an associate with Walmart’s Corporate Affairs team, said in a statement that the measure was in relation to the growing number of COVID-19 cases.

“As you know, several areas across the country have begun seeing a renewed increase in positive COVID-19 cases, and we want to assist health officials working against the pandemic,” Nolan said.

“Everything we’re doing is for the well-being of our associates and the thousands of customers we serve daily, and in consideration of guidance by the Centers for Disease Control and health experts. Given the rise in positive cases through the Delta variant, we will follow CDC guidance, which includes fully vaccinated people wearing masks in public indoor settings in counties with substantial or high transmission.”

Other locations, like the LaGrange Neighborhood Market on Lafayette Parkway will remain open at this time, Nolan said.

“Our other stores throughout the area will remain open at this time so that our customers can continue to shop for their essential needs,” Nolan said.

“We’re monitoring our stores and making evaluations on a case-by-case basis, while continuing our cleaning and safety measures based on advice from health experts.”

Nolan added that when the store reopens Saturday, associates “will continue conducting associate health assessments, and all unvaccinated associates must still wear face coverings.”

“These protocols and convenient access to vaccinations are in addition to the extensive measures we’ve put in place during the pandemic to help protect our associates and customers,” Nolan said. “

We will continue working closely with elected and local health officials, adjusting how we serve the community while also keeping the health and safety of our customers and associates in mind.”
