Mr. John D. Downer, 90, of 123 Old Airport Road departed on Tuesday at his home.

Mr. John Davis Downer, the son of the late Amos and Ollie Downer, was born in Carrollton. Mr. Downer entered into holy matrimony to Lue Ella White and shared many years.

He was an entrepreneur and master auto body painter with Unique Auto Body Shop.

Mr. Downer enjoyed attending Bethlehem Temple Church of LaGrange.

He leaves to cherish his memory: sons Norman(Eloise) Downer of LaGrange, Steven Downer of Hampton, Georgia, Victor Swanson of Detroit, Michigan, Donald(Deetse)Brewer of Dayton, Ohio. and Anthony Brewer of LaGrange; daughters: Ineatha(Michael) Walton of Boston, Massachusetts, Sheila Downer Rainey of Roswell, Georgia, Vanessa Hicks of Detroit, Michigan, 19 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, a host of relatives and special friends.

He is preceded in death in addition to his parents and his loving wife by his daughter  Sylvia Short, one brother and one sister. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Southview Cemetery with the Bishop Albert Jackson, Sr. officiating. Chapel viewing will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
