In Wednesday’s newspaper, we wrote about Will Vowell, a Troup County School bus driver who goes beyond the duties of his job to ensure students are excited about getting to school each morning.

Vowell goes all out. He puts up streamers or decorations around certain holidays. He often has small treats available and to keep students entertained he does fun riddles or trivia.

We love writing features on people like Mr. Vowell. It’d be so easy for him to do the fundamental elements of his job and do nothing beyond that. He could pull his bus up in the mornings (or afternoons), drop off/pick up the kids, be a grouch, get paid and make a living.

But instead he goes the extra mile for students.

Like our readers, many of us are parents, so we know that anything that can get students up and moving in the mornings is a great thing. Anything that makes them excited about going to school is a good thing.
