KIA of LaGrange is offering one out of 1,000 people a chance to win a brand new car while also supporting a local charity.

KIA is raffling off a 2021 Soul S for $50 a ticket, every cent of which will go to Safe Families for Children West Georgia.

“We always try to support local organizations,” said AJ King, social media director for KIA of LaGrange. “This is a one out of 1,000 chance for someone to win a free car. It’s really a great opportunity.”

The West Georgia chapter of Safe Families was formed in 2014 and helps parents in need by offering services such as hosting children for a short time, providing transportation, mentoring, and for other tangible needs such as diapers, car seats and meals.

The organization works with several local churches, including First Baptist Church on the Square and Rosemont Baptist Church and other entities such as the hospital and police departments to assist with its services, said Nicole Spivey, outreach liaison with Safe Families for Children West Georgia.

“We really help families that are socially isolated, or families that don’t have friends or relatives to call on in the community,” she said.

“A lot of the families that we deal with have [other family members] who are in the same situation that they are.”

The organization is self-sustained, Spivey said, meaning they fundraise for their own funds each year.

Only 1,000 tickets will be sold, and if all 1,000 raffle tickets are sold, then Safe Families will receive a donation of $50,000.

A live drawing will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26 at Nutwood Winery during their Battle of the Blues concert event to announce the winner. Raffle participants do not need to be present to win. Tickets can be purchased at KIA of LaGrange.
