Sweetland Amphitheatre closes out its 2021 concert season Friday with Kip Moore. The venue will host two more community events before closing its season, including the Faith in Blue event on Sunday, Oct. 10, and the “Parkland Shooting: Lessons Learned” on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

This year’s schedule brought a mix of rescheduled concerts from last year and new artists due to the pandemic. Katie Van Schoor, the marketing and communications manager for the City of LaGrange reflects on what it was like coming back this season after last year.

“We were so excited to be back this year and have the community come out and support us in the way that they have,” Van Schoor said.

The amphitheater promoted this last concert with a “Find Kip Moore Ticket Giveaway,” which involved hiding a cardboard cutout of the singer around town for the people of LaGrange to find and win tickets to the concert. Those who found the cutout could then snap a photo for a chance to win tickets to the show.

During the holiday season, Sweetland on Ice will be reopening Nov. 19. Plus, there will be a new weekly event where movies will be shown.

“We’ll have concessions,” Van Schoor said. “This year we will be offering beer and wine. We have a concession company that will be offering that, so we’ll have coffee and hot cocoa and popcorn and all that kinds of stuff.”

The movies will be free to the public and will run for five weeks.
