LaGrange Has Talent returns this year after being canceled due to the pandemic last year.

The event raises money for early childhood development while giving members of the community a chance to compete for the $2,000 first place prize.

There are 18 acts competing for a spot at the live show this November.

“We have everything … We have bands. We have instruments, like a violinist and a pianist, singers, and dancers,” said Melissa Miller, fundraising chair of the event, on the types of talent they are seeing this year. The live show will be judged by an independent panel who will then determine the overall winner.

Voting is open the entire month of October and the top ten acts will receive a spot on the stage. Members of the community can send as many votes for their favorites on lagrangehastalent.com. Each vote costs $1 to cast.

The act with the most votes will win the People’s Choice Award, which has a $500 prize. The most recent winner was Peasants with Pitchforks, Hillside Montessori’s Adolescent Band. Miller states that some past acts will be returning to the stage this November to provide entertainment as the judges deliberate on the winner.  The final event will occur on Nov. 18 at the Troup County Fine Arts Building and will follow the Covid guidelines set by the school system.  LaGrange Has Talent is accepting donations and is looking for local sponsors.
