Donte Lane has been a regular sight at the LaGrange-Troup Chamber of Commerce’s ribbon cuttings since his start as a diplomat five months ago.

On Wednesday, the tables turned in Lane’s favor. Instead of him being present in support of the chamber, the chamber was present to celebrate his good fortune with his insurance broker business, Medicare Answers Now.

The chamber celebrated the grand opening of the business with a ribbon-cutting. Lane used the opportunity to remind residents of the ongoing open enrollment for insurance, an opportunity for new state employees to enroll in health and flexible benefits coverage, and for current state employees to review their current plan options with their carriers. Open enrollment ends on Nov. 5.

“Really, what I do is I bring information that people may not know about into the health field,” Lane said. “It makes life a little bit easier for them and makes prices a little bit lower for them.”

Lane’s business focuses on auto, home, medical and life insurances.

Lane credits his success with networking he’s picked up both in his business and as a member of the chamber.

“I started going to all the chamber events … then I started going to every event around town, and once I started doing that, I started meeting people I was already networking with … and things just took off from there,” he said.

“I was put in the right position with the right people.”
