The City of LaGrange hosted its monthly Leaving LaGrange Better Than We Found It litter cleanup campaign Saturday at Lindsey Street.

Nearly 60 volunteers participated in the event, including community partners with the Junior Service League of LaGrange, ThINC Academy’s HOSA Chapter and the LaGrange Fire Department.

For the JSL, the pickup was its first time participating in the event overall, said Holly Winner, who serves as the organization’s service chair.

“Every year we look at what organizations we want to work with for our community projects and last year we decided to work with Leaving LaGrange Better Than We Found It … it worked out so that we could work with them,” she said.

“We were able to pick up a lot of [trash] especially in the parking lot area, then we were able to spread mulch in the playground area to make it better for the kids and we were able to plant a tree.”

The next litter cleanup will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 207 N. Greenwood Street in LaGrange on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 8-10 a.m.
