17 year old arrested for motor vehicle theft, possession of firearm

A 17-year-old, was arrested for theft by taking motor vehicle, possession of firearm during commission of certain crimes, and possession of firearm by person under age of 18 on Wednesday at 6:43 a.m. 

LaGrange Police Department responded in reference to a motor vehicle theft at the Exxon on 2560 Whitesville Street. Officers arrived and made contact with the 42-year-old victim. The victim stated that their car, a red Hyundai Sonata, was stolen while they were inside the store. 

The vehicle was found in the 600 block of New Franklin Road by officers. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the teen refused and fled which lead to a short vehicle pursuit before the arrest. The suspect was found to be in possession of a handgun when taken into custody.
