A beloved fall concert tradition will return this November featuring the Choral Society of West Georgia with outstanding musical guests as they present “Gather Together – A Concert of Praise, Thanksgiving and Remembrance.”

The concert event will be held on Sunday Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church Sanctuary.

This concert program is a unique blend of the spoken word combined with great choral and instrumental musical offerings celebrating the American Thanksgiving tradition, according to a press release from the Choral Society.

Due to the pandemic, the 2020 concert could not be presented in a live concert setting, however, a virtual recording of the 2019 performance was shown as a way of continuing the concert legacy.

Each year an outstanding community leader is invited to be the featured speaker for this event. Past speakers have included civic, academic, military, religious, artistic and media personalities who have had a positive impact on our community.

This year will feature Dr. Richard Ingram in the role of the concert narrator. Dr. Ingram is a well-known speaker and historian as well as being a physician with LaGrange Internal Medicine.

Equally important will be the recognition and honoring of community health care workers, thanking them in a public setting for all that they have done during these most difficult and challenging times.

Health care professionals will be invited to attend at no cost, as a way of showing appreciation for their tireless service to our community.

Two outstanding guest instrumentalists will also join the Choral Society in the concert event. Classical guitarist Patrick Rice will be joined by Sam Lee on violin. Patrick is the grandson of Sylvia and the late Wayne Hunter.

He has performed with the organization in past performances and brings the beauty of the classical guitar as a most welcomed addition to the overall concert setting.

Choral Society accompanist and artistic consultant, Andrew Harry, will also be featured on piano as a soloist on this year’s program.

The Choral Society of West Georgia is under the artistic direction of Bettie Biggs.

Tickets are $15 and are available at Plum Southern, Market Place or by contacting any member of the Choral Society.

Online tickets may be purchased at www.choralsocietyofwestgeorgia.org

For the protection of the musicians and audience, masks are required during the performance.

The Board of Directors respectfully requests all attending audience members (over the age of 12)  to be vaccinated.
