LPD officer suffers broken hand when suspect resists arrest

A LaGrange Police Department officer sustained broken bones in her hand after a man resisted arrest on Saturday afternoon at Taco Bell.
The injured officer was identified as Riley Densmore, who received treatment at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center and was released. The suspect was identified Mitchell Muirhead, who was later arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a police offer and felony obstruction of an officer, according to a LPD press release.
The incident occurred at Taco Bell, located at 314 New Franklin Road, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to the press release, Densmore recognize Muirhead, who she knew had active warrants for violation of family violence order and obstruction of an officer. Densmore approached Muirhead and was attempting to take him into custody when he began to struggle to get free. During this struggle, Densmore sustained the hand injury, and Muirhead was able to break free and escape on foot.
Muirhead was later located and arrested in Coweta County and was transported to the Troup County Jail.
