A second person has been arrested after a LaGrange Police Department officer was injured Saturday at Taco Bell when a man resisted arrest.

The injured officer was identified as Riley Densmore, who received treatment for fractured fingers at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center and was released.  The suspect in the incident was identified Mitchell Muirhead, who was later arrested and charged with aggravated battery on a police offer and felony obstruction of an officer, according to a LPD press release. The LPD announced Monday that Muirhead’s girlfriend, Chasity Kaplan, was also arrested and charged with hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal.
The incident occurred Saturday afternoon around 3:40 p.m. at Taco Bell on New Franklin Road.
According to the press release, Densmore recognize Muirhead, who she knew had active warrants for violation of family violence order and obstruction of an officer. Densmore approached Muirhead and was attempting to take him into custody when he began to struggle to get free. During this struggle, Densmore sustained the hand injury, and Muirhead was able to break free and escape on foot.
Kaplan transported Muirhead to a hotel in Newnan to assist him in avoiding apprehension, according to the LPD. Kaplan was aware of Muirhead’s active warrants at the time, according to the press release. He also had active arrest warrants for obstruction (misdemeanor) and violation of a temporary protective order.
Muirhead and Kaplan were later located and arrested in Coweta County and was transported to the Troup County Jail.
