The City of LaGrange will close several downtown streets in anticipation of Thursday’s 45th annual Christmas parade.

Parallel parking spots on the 100 blocks of Bull St. and Main St. will be blocked off from parking all day Thursday. Diagonal parking spots on Bull St. and Main St. will be available for parking all day, as well as during the parade. Detour signs will be set up prior to the street closings to alert drivers of alternate routes, said  Katie Van Schoor, the City of LaGrange’s marketing/communications manager.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. but the streets will be closed off starting at 5:45 p.m. Residents will have parking options downtown as well as at the Broad St. parking garage. The parade will start at Granger Park and then will redirect left a W. Haralson St., right at Bull St. and up Main Street and Ridley Avenue.

The festivities will begin at 3 p.m. on Lafayette Square with the Mingle with Kringle event. The annual Christmas tree lighting in downtown will be at 5 p.m.

Grammy-nominated local blues musician Jontavious Willis will hold a concert on Lafayette Square after the annual tree lighting at around 5:15 p.m.

The parade is hosted by the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce and presented by Kimberly-Clark. This year’s theme is “A Magical, Musical Parade” and the Grand Marshal is Young Singers of West Georgia Conductor Stacey Hardigree. Hardigree will be leading the parade and lighting the annual Christmas tree in downtown LaGrange before the parade. The grand marshal vehicle is sponsored by Jackson Services.

The City of LaGrange’s television station LGTV will be carrying the parade LIVE on Facebook at facebook.com/lgtv.org.
