Jane Goolsby Teaver, 94, passed away Dec. 6, 2021, following a brief illness. 

“Mimi Jane” was born Sara Jane Goolsby on Aug. 25, 1927, in the Pleasant Hill Community of Talbot County, Georgia. She was the first daughter of the late Lawrence Nelson Goolsby and Irene Hendricks Goolsby. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Henry Paul Teaver she was also proceeded in death by her five brothers.

She is survived by sons, Steve (Susie) Teaver of LaGrange, Georgia; Mark (Kim) Teaver of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and Frank (Sharon) Teaver also of LaGrange.  Along with grandchildren Whitney (Johnny) Gober, Steven (Nicky) Teaver, Hannah (David) Mize, Ryan (Chris) Morrison, Andrew Teaver, and Henry Teaver, Jane had nine great grandchildren who loved her dearly. Also surviving Jane is her sister Doris Gibson of Loganville, Georgia with whom she maintained an especially close relationship.

Jane was a student at LaGrange College when she met Paul Teaver after he returned to LaGrange following his service in World War II.

Jane and Paul were married on December 22nd, 1946 with this month marking their 75th anniversary.   

Jane was a devoted mother to three sons and a consummate homemaker. In 1971, she returned to LaGrange College and completed her early childhood education degree, graduating in December, 1972. At that time, Jane and her three sons were in college concurrently.

Jane loved First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange and remained active as a teacher in the KYB class, President of Women of the Church, and was the first female elder elected to the session.  This paved the way for so many other women to take leadership roles in her church. Family and church were the focus of her life, but she found great joy pursuing her passion for playing bridge with her longtime friends.

A private service of celebration for Jane’s life will be held at the columbarium at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday.

There will be visitation with friends and extended family afterwards in the fellowship hall from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity or First Presbyterian Church, LaGrange, in the memory of Jane Goolsby Teaver.
