Approximately 60 people participated in the City of LaGrange’s Leaving LaGrange Better Than We Found It this Saturday, according to a press release from the city.  Community partners for this month included St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and the LaGrange Fire Department.

Several more organizations participated in this month’s event including BSA Troup #21, the Junior Service League of LaGrange, LaGrange Academy’s Junior National Honor Society and LaGrange High School’s Service Club. Several other individuals participated as well. The group picked up litter along the first segment of The Thread, North Greenwood Street and the surrounding area. Free coffee and donuts were provided from Local Groundz.

These litter cleanups are always family-friendly and free and open to the public. The city provides safety vests, trash bags and gloves.

Here is the schedule through April 2022:

• January – Saturday, Jan. 8 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the location of the new city park under construction near Hamilton Rd and Brown Street. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot, address is 118 Brown Street. The community partner is LaGrange Fire Department.
• February – Saturday, February 5, from 8-10 a.m. at LFD Headquarters, 115 Hill Street. The community partner is LaGrange Fire Department.
• March – Saturday, March 5, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Piggly Wiggly parking lot, 505 South Greenwood Street. The community partner is LaGrange Fire Department.
• April – Friday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. City employees to pick up litter throughout the community
