A 26-year-old homeless man previously from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into two vehicles in LaGrange Saturday morning.

The suspect, Jake Shults, was charged with one count of entering an auto, one count of criminal attempt entering auto and one count of obstruction of officers.

Officers with the LPD were dispatched to Goodwill at 1468 Lafayette Parkway in reference to an entering auto in progress. While enroute, officers received updated information that the same suspect was now attempting to enter a second vehicle in the parking lot of Home Depot, located at 1500 Lafayette Parkway.

Per the press release from the LPD, Shults was taken into custody following an alleged brief foot pursuit.

Shults was transported to the Troup County Jail, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges. At the time of his arrest, Shults was on misdemeanor probation in Redding, California and on bond for the charge of Burglary in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
