The Christmas shopping season is only a few weeks from being over. Yes, you read that correctly.

It’s somehow almost over.

And we know that many of you probably haven’t even started your shopping lists. And that time will go by very quickly.

We encourage you that when you get out there and shop, that you do so locally first. We’ve written it before, but it’s important to remind you again that those tax dollars stay here when that money is spent here. That money is funneled back into the community through better roadways and more local projects.

If you run off to Newnan or Columbus to buy all of your gifts, those communities reap the benefit. And while we love our neighboring communities, LaGrange and Troup County as a whole could certainly use your shopping.

We know our community lacks for some big box retail, but there’s a lot of local shops downtown (and all around) that have special, one of a kind gifts that you won’t find on a shelf at Walmart.

(No offense against Walmart, as we know the two we have are a great place to find gifts as well.)

However, our point is, there are a lot of gift ideas right here in LaGrange and Troup County. We hope you’ll explore those before your done gift shopping this year.
