For members of Troup County looking for a meal this Christmas, Tyrone Poole and his foundation, Tyrone Poole 38 foundation, will be handing out turkeys, side dishes and treats on Thursday, Dec. 23.

Poole, a LaGrange native and two-time Super Bowl champion, will be giving out the food at 115 East Cannon Street from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. while supplies last.

Poole said this event is all about giving back to his hometown in a substantial way and helping the community he grew up in.

“I’m just doing it because [it] is my hometown, and I understand the need of people when we’re in a crisis, or adversity, we need help,” Pool said. “I’m just doing my part to help those [people] get the necessity of food.”

The location of the turkey giveaway is the old Cannon Street Elementary School, which is no longer used by the Troup County School System. Poole said he still remembers it from when he lived in LaGrange.

“Even though it’s been closed down for years, it was the same elementary school that I went to when I was in LaGrange,” Poole said. “I could see myself walking through the halls right now. I just want to make sure that I put LaGrange on the right map.”

Poole said he encourages others, specifically athletes from LaGrange like himself, to give back and help LaGrange where they can.

“I would encourage other athletes, who are from LaGrange and challenge them to meet me on the same grounds, and we come back and work together,” Poole said.

Poole played for the Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans. His two Super Bowls were won with the Patriots.

Tyrone Poole plans to give away turkeys, side dishes and sweets to the citizens of his hometown, LaGrange.
