It’s not every day that LaGrange gets national media attention, though it seems to be happening more now than ever before.

Sometimes it’s for a unique crime, but usually it has more to do with something unique and rewarding.

The latest example is Anthony Talley’s $1 Thursday program, which was recently featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show.

“We started out on how $1 Thursday started, which was when I spoke to a high school friend who had fallen on hard times, and it spilled over into the things I’ve been able to do so far,” Talley said about the interview with Clarkson.

Talley began the program in 2017. Since its founding, he has earned thousands of dollars that has been used to help individuals in various situations, such as paying their medical bills and recovery from house fires.

The idea is to get as many people as possible to donate a dollar to go toward a local cause, and it’s been embraced by the community.

Talley also funds other projects, such as supplying free ice cream for children and fruit baskets for teachers in the Troup County School System.

There are times where all of us need a dollar, but there are also plenty of times where we could stand to give away a dollar or two.

Talley ensures that extra funding goes to someone who really needs it. When a lot of people help out all at once, the dollars really add up fast.

We’re glad that Talley’s idea is getting national attention.

He’s helped a lot of people, as have those that have been willing to give away a hard earned dollar for the good of someone else.
