Troup girls pull away to defeat LaGrange

An early 18-6 run helped the Troup High girls basketball team pull away from rival LaGrange in a 52-23 victory on Friday night.

“They put in a lot of great effort, the hustle, so I was proud of that. We played good

team ball,” Troup head coach Carla Thornton. “It takes all of us to look good, so it’s always a

team effort.”

Alecxia Murphy started the game strong, scoring 11 points out of 18 for the Lady Tigers in the first quarter. Carriah Williams made two, 3-pointers in the first quarter for the Lady Grangers as they attempted to keep it close.

Troup led 32-9 at the half.

Williams scored 14 total points for the Grangers. Zy Gray added four, Muffin Pope added 3 and Adrianna Kendrci added 2).

Alexcia Murphy scored 18 points, Angie Dowdell added 11, and Monyia

Murphy scored 9 for Troup. Nyla Weldon, Sammoria Weldon and Jada Shealey all contributed 4 points.

Both the Lady Tigers and the Grangers will be playing their next region game on

Jan. 18, Tigers will play against Jordan High School, while the Grangers play against

Kendrick High School.
