The Troup County area will see a repeat of last weekend’s icy rain and flurries this weekend, but snow is not expected to be included in the forecast.

Marissa Pazos, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, said while the low temperature this weekend will be in the mid-20s, the air is too dry to create the proper conditions for snow.

“It’s looking like there could be a very slight rain/snow mix Friday and Saturday night, but the forecast is coming in drier than previously reported,” Pazos said Wednesday. “Right now, the chances [for snow] are looking pretty small.”

As of Wednesday, Troup County along with several other northwest and northeast Georgia counties are expected to experience rain that may change to light snow and light freezing rain beginning Thursday night and continue through Saturday morning.

Rain is expected to move in Thursday night and continue through Friday night, creating the chance for freezing rain.

The high temperature for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is expected to be in the mid to high 40s.
