HOGANSVILLE— The Hogansville City Council consented Tuesday for the city to apply for a grant to go toward its amphitheater project.

Rylee Govoreau, an employee with the city of Hogansville, relayed to the council that the U.S. Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management is offering competitive recreation and visitor grants that Hogansville can tap into for its outdoor amphitheater.

The maximum grant amount the department is offering is $350,000, and Govoreau said the city wants to apply for the full amount to help with Phase I of the city’s amphitheater upgrades.

The city would apply for $350,000 from IBLM for Phase I and match that grant with $67,711 from the city’s $300,000 Amphitheater SPLOST account.

“[Phase I includes] some really essential upgrades to get [the amphitheater] back up and running for the public,” Govoreau said. “It would make everything ADA accessible with concrete stairs, concrete sidewalks, both pedestrian and vehicle rated. It would also include shrubs, ground covering and plant bufferings to add some vegetation back to the area, and incorporate lights.”

According to city documents, the design engineer, TSW, has prepared detailed cost estimates and a concept plan that puts Phase I costs at a projected $417,000.

Phase II, which includes stage enhancement of the amphitheater, would cost $345,177. Phase Ill, which would incorporate a planned green room for the amphitheater, would cost $353,400, ramping the total cost for the project to $1,086,289.
