Downtown West Point has sort of been a carousel of local restaurants in recent years. From a sandwich shop, a Mexican restaurant, a barbecue restaurant, American food and much more, there’s been a rotating door of local eateries that are unfortunately no longer open.

Of course, the city has its staples. From Pokeys to Johnny’s Pizza to Coach’s and American Smokehouse, there’s still been plenty of great places to eat for lunch or dinner.

But now, business is really picking up.

All in the last week, Bull’s Hibachi and Karvelas Pizza have opened new franchise locations in West Point. You could argue that West Point has the best lunch options of any city its size for quite a long distance.

That’s very exciting, and it’s a great distinction for the city overall. Not only are there a ton of options, but the choices are diverse enough that they should keep people coming back week after week.

On a side note, it’s also important to remember that every local restaurant needs our support right now. It’s difficult to find employees and margins are fairly small in the restaurant industry. If you decide to eat out, think about the person waiting your table. Make sure to tip and to be patient, especially if the restaurant appears to be short-staffed.

We’re excited about all of the new options for restaurants in West Point. We know they’ll draw big crowds in the weeks ahead as people want to try it. But in the weeks and months that follow, that support needs to continue.
