The Callaway Cavaliers boys basketball team beat Heard County 70-48 Friday for the second victory over the Braves this year. While the first game was a one score nailbiter, Friday’s game was decided long before the final whistle.

After scoring 21 points in the first quarter, the Cavaliers were ice cold in the second, only scoring five points. The cold second quarter meant that the Cavaliers only led 26-23 at the break.

The Cavalier regained momentum in the second half as they outscored Heard County by eight in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth.

It was the DeShun Coleman show for Callaway as he  nailed bucket after bucket to lead the way for the Cavaliers. He finished with 26 points, but it was his eye-popping 15 points in the third quarter that was the difference in the game.

The Cavaliers go to 15-5 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the region. The Cavaliers are locked into the one seed for their region, but with two games remaining in the season they need to keep riding this momentum into the playoffs. Callaway’s next game will be across the border in Alabama as they play non-region opponent Valley.
