The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a sexual assault that occurred within the city limits on Jan. 30.

An LPD officer went to an undisclosed location in LaGrange and made contact with the victim as well as the parents of the victim, according to a press release from the department. During the investigation, it was determined that a child molestation occurred at this residence a short time earlier.

The LPD said the suspect in this incident left the residence and attempted suicide, where he was later transported to Wellstar West Georgia in critical condition. A warrant has been secured for the suspect for child molestation.
