The LaGrange High School girl’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Hardaway 45-20 Friday night. The Grangers had a chance to extend their season, but with this loss finished in last place in the region. A coin flip decided their fate as they tied bottom of the region with Jordan, Jordan won the coin flip earlier this week and advances to the region tournament, while LaGrange does not.

The Hawks scored the first 12 points of the game as the Grangers offense struggled to get going in the first quarter. The Grangers did not get a point until Brittney Heard made a two-point basket with a minute and 45 seconds left to go in the first quarter.

The Grangers offense came to life in the second, going on a 13-3 run to start the quarter to get themselves back in it. Zykia Gray got into foul trouble when she picked up her fourth foul early in the second quarter and sat on the bench the rest of the half.

The Grangers came out lethargic in the third and did not score a point in the quarter. The Hawks started the third on a 5-0 run and closed the quarter by outscoring the Grangers 7-0.

The fourth quarter was much of the same as the lead turned insurmountable for the Grangers.

LaGrange scored just five points in the second half as its season ended with a whimper.

Junior Nina Brooks finished the game as the Grangers leading scorer with 8 points.

It was the last game in blue and white for Katy Beth “KB” Bedingfield, Kylah Campebell, and Holly Lynn as the three seniors will graduate in the spring.

The Grangers finished the 2020-21 season 2-23 record overall. The Grangers 2022-23 season will tip off in November.
