Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

When the first part of The Thread first opened in 2017, there was a lot of excitement about what it would mean for the future of LaGrange. That excitement remains today.

But even back then, there was a dream for what took place on Saturday to eventually come true. This past weekend the Thread held its first ever 5K and 10K events, and the event was sponsored by Emory LaGrange, a perfect sponsor for an event all about getting a workout in.

Hundreds of people participated, taking advantage of the good weather and an opportunity to qualify for AJC Peachtree Road Race.

This won’t be the last event like this held on The Thread either, as the possibilities for future events are endless. The Thread, even at this point, is really still in its early stages as a walking trail, with plenty more miles left to be paved around our city.

We can’t wait until the entire thing is completed.

For now, we need to get more people out walking, taking advantage of the trail. Other cities would love to have such a wonderful, safe place to get some exercise. If you haven’t been on the Thread, we encourage you to find one of the locations near you and go for a walk. The weather is warming up, the time is changing soon, and it’s a great time to get outdoors.

It’s a great time to walk the Thread.
