Cavaliers girls soccer team gets back to winning ways led by Keeley McGuffin

The Callaway girls soccer team bounced back after a crushing loss to Bremen on Tuesday by grabbing its first region win of the season over Haralson County 5-0 on Friday. 

The Cavaliers got off to a good start with Keeley McGuffin and Kate McAteer each grabbing a goal in the opening 15 minutes of the game. 

McGuffin was the star of the game with three goals and an assist – she scored with all three of her shots on goal.

Kaylie Flores scored the other goal for the Cavaliers on the night. Mary Kate Baswell grabbed two assists with Alora Vetavong and McAteer each grabbing an assist as well. All five of the Cavalier goals had an assist attached to it as Callaway played a quality team game up front.

Raine Hunt had three saves to help the team record its sixth clean sheet of the season. 

The Cavaliers are now 10-1 overall and 1-1 in the region. Their next game is away to region foe Temple on March 8 at 7 p.m.
