Last weekend, the weather in Troup County reached the 80s for the first time in 2022. Now, as Georgia prepares to “spring forward,” the forecast resembles nothing of spring. A winter storm coming from the west is ushering in the potential for severe weather this weekend.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Wind Advisory for Troup County that will be in effect throughout the day Saturday. Gusts could be around 25 to 30 mph. These strong winds create the “wind chill factor”, where it feels much colder outside than the actual temperatures are. Saturday morning temperatures will be in the 30s with wind chills falling into the 20s.

Furthermore, isolated thunderstorms are possible across Troup County Friday through Saturday. A few storms could become strong to severe Friday afternoon into early Saturday, capable of producing strong, gusty winds and a brief tornado.

There is not any anticipated ice or snow in Troup County. However, for those traveling north, be mindful of light snow accumulations as well as the potential for slippery roads.
