The LaGrange Police Department arrested two suspects Saturday who allegedly shot Orbeez gel rounds at two residents, injuring them.

On March 7, at about 6 p.m. two males entered the property of the Tennis Pro Shop located at 100 Hunnicutt Place with two plastic handguns loaded with Orbeez gel projectile rounds that shoot at a distance of at least 20 feet, according to a press release from the LPD.

Once inside the shop, the males intentionally and without justification, shot a male victim from a distance of 20 feet, who was an employee, between 10 and 12 times in the face and neck area while laughing. They then ran from the Tennis Pro Shop and into the parking lot where they intentionally shot a second female victim in the back multiple times with the same projectiles before fleeing the area on foot.

The LPD posted a photo of the two suspects on its social media page and both were identified.

On Saturday, March 12, at 10:45 a.m. officers with the LPD met with the two males and they were identified as juvenile brothers. Officers also met with their mother. Based on the intentional act of the juveniles, they were both charged with reckless conduct and simple battery. Their mother was also charged with parental responsibility to supervise.

Neither of the victims or offenders were seriously injured during this reckless act.  The LPD would like to make it known that these kinds of reckless behaviors from anyone intentionally trying to cause harm to others with these plastic guns will not be tolerated. These guns, albeit toys, can cause serious bodily harm and look like real weapons, which could result in deadly encounters and even more serious consequences. Anyone caught intentionally shooting these projectiles at another will be charged accordingly.
