Be weather aware today: Chance of tornadoes as severe storms move into Georgia

A small portion of Troup County is under an enhanced risk for severe weather Friday, including the possibility for strong tornadoes, heavy rain and wind gusts about 60 miles per hour.

The portion of Troup under an enhance risk, which is three out of five on the National Weather Service in Peacthree City’s severe weather scale, the very western portion of the county. The rest of Troup County is under a slight risk, though forecasters always ask people not to spend too much time worried about which part of the scale they are in.

Severe storms are supposed to impact the area around 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
