1953-2022

Bobby Frank Turner, 68, of Clarkesville, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Jan. 25, 2022, with his wife and daughter by his side.

He was born March 16, 1953, in LaGrange, Georgia, son of the late Donald Bridges Turner and Frances Eurenda Hazel Turner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Turner Daniel, his brother, Don Turner, and a niece, Donna Turner Webb. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Sheila Barber Turner, his cherished daughter, Taran Jill (TJ) Turner King, and her husband, Tayler King, whom Bobby loved like a son.  His two grandchildren, Lila Grace King and Turner King brought him so much joy in the short time he was able to spend with them.

Bobby graduated from Troup High School in 1971, where he lettered in multiple sports, was captain of the football team and was named Mr. Troup High School among other honors.

His greatest honor, however, was when he escorted his beloved TJ on the field at THS homecoming and received a round of cheers from her friends.  He continued his education after high school and graduated from Gordon Military College.  He was a member of Loyd Presbyterian Church in LaGrange, Georgia.

Bobby worked in commercial and residential construction for many years for Dan-Ric Builders, Langford Construction and Newman Construction where he built a reputation as a talented and trusted employee.  He was never happier than when he had a pile of lumber, his hammer, level and skill saw in hand.  He was an avid UGA Bulldog fan, holding season tickets since 1980 and seldom missed a game before illness prevented it.  He could quote statistics from every player- past, current and prospective.   He was able to see his Dawgs win the 2021 National Championship from his hospital bed.

His love for his family, friends and rescue dogs, Allie and Ivy was infinite. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Upstate Animal Rescue Foundation SC, P.O. Box 195, Townville, South Carolina, 29689.

The Gathering of Family and Friends will be at 2 p.m, Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel.  The Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Tony Dean officiating. Friends and family will be invited to share memories if they desire.
