The Callaway baseball team lost a chance to clinch the region title in a low scoring affair against Haralson County on Monday. The Cavaliers lost the game 2-0 and will now have to wait until Friday for another chance to clinch the region crown.

The Cavaliers could only muster four hits with three of them coming from Andrew Locke, who reached base in every at bat. Jacob Karvelas got the Cavaliers only other hit on the evening. The Cavaliers actually got one more hit than the Rebels but could not generate enough offense when it mattered most.

The Cavaliers got runners on the corners in the top of the seventh but could not manage to bring either home.

Justin Moore had another great showing on the mound as he only allowed three hits, one earned run on seven strikeouts as he pitched a complete game.

This was a massive win for the Rebels as they are the only team in the region that can snatch the region title away from Callaway.

The Cavaliers saw their 11-game win streak snapped as they fell to 14-4 overall and saw their perfect region record blemished as they are now 9-1 in region play. Callaway will have its chance for revenge as the Cavaliers take on Haralson County in a doubleheader on Friday. A win in either of those games will clinch the Cavaliers first region title since 2017.
