Martha Ann “Polly” Rachel, 93, of LaGrange departed on Thursday at her daughter’s home in Decatur, Georgia.

Martha Ann Rachel the daughter of the late Wilson Rachel and Eula Zachery was born in  Lagrange.

She was affectionately known as “Polly” joined Smyrna Baptist Church at an early age and was an elder mother.

Ms. Polly enjoyed working with the Women’s Auxiliary of the Western Union Baptist  Association and in her later years was crowned Queen.

She leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters Priscilla(Lawrence) Small and Dorothy  Turner, both of Decatur, Georgia; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, one sister Bobbie Cutwright of Lagrange and sister-in-law  Mildred Rachel of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and special friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Carl Rachel, and nine siblings.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday at noon with the Rev. Lonnie Walls officiating.

The family will receive friends at her home 502 Hines St. 

Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Mackey-Wilson-Jennings  Funeral Home.
