A few years ago, when the COVID-19 pandemic first started, toilet paper was hard to find. So was disinfectant spray such as Lysol.

Other items have come and gone as hard to find over the last two years, often due to staffing shortages.

But now there’s a new one that really is impactful — baby formula.

Several major retailers and big box stores are having a hard time getting it, meaning they are putting limits on how many you can purchase.

This shortage is actually due to a recall of Similac and other similar products, rather than something related to the pandemic or staffing issues though.

Similac, Alimentum and EleCare, all made by Abbot Nutrition, were recalled after the FDA researched four infant illnesses from three states – Minnesota, Ohio and Texas. All four cases required hospitalization.

Of course, this is putting parents in a precarious position.

If they can’t find the formula their child usually drinks, do they swap formulas? How will the child handle that? We’re not experts on this by any means, but medical experts have said that it’s safe to change formulas.

However, we know that doesn’t help a cranky baby who doesn’t want to drink a new formula. Given the formula shortage, is there an item you can’t find on store shelves right now? Is it baby formula? Or is it something else?
