The Thread celebrated 10 miles of completed trails last week, an enormous accomplishment in only five years. The current plan is for the Thread to be over 30 miles along.

We use the word “current” because there’s really no reason it can’t be longer, assuming the trail continues to get the support it has now.

If you haven’t walked down all areas of the Thread, we encourage you to go outside, get some exercise and enjoy the scenery.

The trail behind the Mike Daniel Recreation Center goes on for miles and miles — including splitting off a few different ways — and we’re not sure there’s a more beautiful walk than the Model Mile at Granger Park or the trail near Hollis Hand Elementary School.

The Thread is a safe place to get outside and get some much-needed exercise in, especially right now when the days are long and the sun shines until late into the evening.

Many communities don’t have a dedicated walking area for citizens to get some fresh air.

We’re lucky to have one, and we encourage you to get outside and enjoy it. The weather is perfect right now, and we’re lucky to have the Thread.
