The Troup baseball team fell in game three to Benedictine 7-3 to see its season come to an end. The Tigers made it to the quarterfinals two years running under their second-year head coach Tanner Glisson.

Benedictine got off to a hot start with runs in the first inning and another two in the second to capture a quick 6-0 lead.

The Tigers started to generate momentum in the fifth inning when they scored two runs. Will Keeter walked with the bases loaded followed by Fisher Baltzell getting hit by a pitch to score two runs for the Tigers. With the bases loaded and two outs, Troup was not able to score any additional runs in the inning.

Bendictine answered back with a run in the bottom of the fifth to take a 7-2 lead.

Josh Mcdonald singled to right field to score a run in the top of the six for the Tigers. With runners on the corners and no outs, the Tigers could not score any more runs in the inning.

The Tigers could not capitalize consistently on runners in scoring positions on the night.

Tripp Cummings got the start on the mound with Daniel Martin, and Devon Murphy coming in to relieve him.

Mcdonald had the best game offensively for the Tigers as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Murphy also had a solid day from the plate as he went 1-for-2 with two walks. Ty Medders and Mason Atkinson each had a hit on the night as well. Reed Morris did not have the game fans were accustomed to in the playoffs, but he was still able to earn two walks.

The Tigers season came to an end in the quarterfinals after a postseason of late-game heroics and last gasp comebacks.

This season will be remembered for the miracle at Marist and the Morris grand slam that saved the Tigers’ season in game two against Benedictine. For Rocky Pemberton, Brett Haynes and Andrew Townsend, Martin and Atkinson it was their final game for the Tigers. All three contributed to the team winning the region title last year and being 55-17 over the last two seasons under Glisson.
