Doris D. Market, affectionately known as Markie by her family, passed away on May 15, 2022, at 102 years old.

She was born in LaGrange, Georgia to George Washington Daniel and Viola Moore Daniel.  In addition to her parents, Markie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Market and a son, Danny Market. Markie lived in the East Vernon Community in Troup County for over 60 years.  She was an active member of East Vernon Baptist Church, participating in all aspects of the children’s ministry.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Her greatest joy was her family.  Markie enjoyed traveling with friends and family and exercising with her friends.  She will be remembered for her zest for life and her enthusiasm to try new things, even as she neared her nineties.  She leaves a remarkable legacy of courage and endurance. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Jerry Phillips, Joanne Market and four loving granddaughters and their families:  Gina and Vince Laney, Markee Laney and Carter Laney; Jill and Robert Barylak, Hollis Barylak and Ben Barylak; Shana Market, Sawyer Norton and Elliott Norton; Jennifer and Kris Elliot, Tori Elliott and Grayson Elliott.  She is also survived by four nieces and several cousins.

The family thanks West Georgia Hospice for its care, support and love during the last year.  They also thank the many friends who have supported Markie and her family during the last few years.  Markie had wonderful caregivers and we appreciate everything each of them did.  Thank you Bob and Barbara Knight for all they have done as well.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2021 at 4 p.m. at the Shadowlawn Cemetery with Rev. Paul Blair officiating.  Family will greet friends beginning at 3:00 pm at the graveside on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the WellStar West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, 30240.
