Ellen Traylor Terrell of Winder passed away peacefully on May 29 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center (Hospice Unit) in Gainesville, Georgia.

Ellen was born and raised in LaGrange, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. L. Henderson Traylor of LaGrange.

She is survived by her husband Jimmy Terrell of Winder; sons Jon of Monroe (Sarah) and Brad of Eliot, ME (Jeremy); and grandson Nathan (Monroe). She is also survived by brothers Tom Traylor of Roswell (Jamie), Joe Traylor of Newnan (Lynn) and sister Laura Trivette (James) of Marietta. 

She leaves behind a multitude of great friends across multiple states who wholeheartedly supported her throughout the years, along with numerous nieces and nephews.  Ellen was known for her genuine kindness, innate sense of humor and love of adventure.

Ellen was a graduate of LaGrange High School and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in History from Wesleyan College of Macon.

She began her banking career upon graduation from Wesleyan joining the Citizens and Southern Bank of Georgia in Atlanta. She was in the management training program and trained in all facets of retail banking.

She later joined Bank Earnings International (BEI) as a consultant, and traveled extensively throughout the United States working with banks in the updating and streamlining of banking procedures.

In 1987, Ellen and another former C&S employee, Carol Meeler, formed the Meeler-Terrell consulting firm. In addition to working with financial institutions in the areas of retail banking and operations, the company developed customized resource and training materials.

Desiring to stay home as their children grew older, Ellen, in 2000, accepted a position as Senior Vice President with Main Street Bank in Covington and North Georgia. When Main Street Bank merged with Brand bank, she then joined the Brand Bank management team retiring in 2015.

Her first loves, however, were family, friends, traveling and spending time at West Point Lake with those she held dear.  Ellen had an appreciation for nature and that was reflected in her flower beds, anchored with gardenias, hydrangeas and various other annuals and perennials.

An opportunity to visit with the family will follow a Memorial Service to be held Friday, June 10 in Winder at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. The reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the Memorial Service. An additional service  will be held on Saturday, June 11 in LaGrange at the First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., followed by a Sunday burial at the Traylor Family cemetery on the morning of Sunday, June 12.
