On July 31, 2022, LaGrange High School Principal Alton White will be trading in the life of an educator for a well-earned life of leisure and relaxation.

White has led a long career in education spanning over 28 years. Through his innovation and time as Lagrange High School’s principal, White’s passion and influence for knowledge leaves a legacy for the years to come.

“Mr. White’s visionary leadership will truly be missed. He and his team have worked tirelessly to improve the academic opportunities for all students at LaGrange High,” said Secondary Education Director Jonathan Laney.

White joined the Troup County School System in 2015, and according to a press release from TCSS he was essential in increasing enrollment, improving graduation rates, and overseeing the building of the new athletic facility.

“LaGrange High School is a very special place. We have the most dedicated faculty and the most incredible students I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with,” White said. “I feel very lucky to have been able to be the principal for the last 6 1/2 years and wish the LHS community nothing but the best.”

The interviewing process for LaGrange High School’s next principal will begin on June 21.

“We appreciate Mr. White’s service and leadership to LaGrange High and the Troup County School system,” Superintendent Dr. Brian Shumate said. “LaGrange High has made so much progress. We are sad to see him retire. However, we understand and plan to move forward with the interviewing process. We hope to have a new principal for LaGrange High by the end of June.”
