The Drama Club from LaGrange Piano will be performing the upbeat Disney musical “High School Musical 2” on Friday, June 10 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 11 at 2 p.m. at Franklin Road Baptist Church in LaGrange.

The hit musical original aired on the Disney channel in 2007 as the sequel to the popular “High School Musical.” The sequel begins as Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, and the rest of the East High Wildcats kick off summer vacation. Troy and Gabriella both get jobs at the local Lava Springs Country Club, while Sharpay and Ryan set a plan in motion to win the coveted Star Dazzle Award at the Summer Talent Show.

Featuring favorite songs such as “What Time Is It,” “Humuhumunukunukuapua’a,” and “I Don’t Dance” the musical delves into the challenges teens face as they examine loyalty, friendship, and responsibilities, while still making time for fun. The show stars Asher Watts, 14, of LaGrange as basketball star Troy Bolton, and Mae Ussery, 15, from Roanoke, Alabama, as Gabriella Montez, and Shealyn Kite, 12 and Lucah Prophett, 13 (both from LaGrange) as Ryan and Sharpay Evans.
