HOGANSVILLE — The city of Hogansville has started renovations to the former Hogansville Public Library, located at 600 East Main Street. The plan is to renovate the building to provide a space for Hogansville’s court services as well as to open a new visitors center.

Currently, the Hogansville court services share a space with the Hogansville Police Department. This new location will give them the opportunity to have a dedicated space for their monthly court sessions. According to City Manager Jonathon Lynn, the move is highly anticipated.

“The court services are already packing up boxes for court,” Lynn said. “They are really chomping at the bit to get into the new location.”

It is also expected that the new visitor center will provide tourists and citizens alike with access and information on things to do in Hogansville. Furthermore, the space will feature a small museum that will highlight the rich history of the town. City Councilwoman Toni Striblin expressed her excitement for the visitor center.

“One of my favorite things to do is to give people a tour of Hogansville,” Striblin said.

“We have a ton of great history in our town and a lot of things to do, so I am really excited for the new visitor center.”

The project has a budget of $100,000 in the 2021-22 fiscal year and a projected budget of $25,000 in the 2022-23 fiscal year.

As it stands, all of the renovations are set to be completed before Hogansville’s annual Hummingbird Festival in October.
