Juneteenth among events happening this weekend

There are several fun events to take part in in LaGrange this weekend. From book sales to music concerts, there is something exciting for everyone.

Beginning Friday at 10 a.m., Pretty Good Books is having a summer used book sale. Roughly 70% of their inventory will be on sale, with hardbacks being $2, and paperbacks being $1. The sale will continue through Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Also on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., renowned country singer John Berry will perform at Pure Life Studios. Registration is $22.50 and can be paid on the Pure Life website. Pure Life Studios is located at 206 Clark St.

On Saturday, Peter Karp will perform a series of Blues hits at Pure Life. The event will be from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Registration is $22.50, and can be paid on the Pure Life website.

This Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. includes the return of Market on Main Street. Several vendors will be present with local produce, baked goods and locally made items. Admission is free and open to everyone.

Also Saturday morning, Calumet Park will host the second annual Juneteenth celebration from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 109 Union Street. This event, meant to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States nearly 200 years ago, will include a variety of family-friendly activities from speakers sharing the history of Juneteenth, spoken word poetry, singers, dance groups, face painting, a kid’s corner, food trucks and live music. Over 40 vendors will be participating in this year’s celebration.

Wild Leap is hosting a Breakfestival on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will feature six different vendors with your breakfast and brunch favorites, as well as Live Music and One-Day-Only Beers. Admission is free and open to all ages.

Cruisers for Christ will return to LaGrange from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Marco’s Pizza on Lafayette Parkway for its monthly classic car show. This event is free to attend.
