A man is in recovery after an unknown suspect shot him in the leg while he was traveling down Jefferson Street.

On July 3, Troup County 911 received a call in regards to shots fired in the area of Vernon Road and Jefferson Street. A short time later Troup County 911 received a call from WellStar in regards to the male victim arriving at the ER with a single gunshot wound to his leg, according to a press release.

Officers were advised by the victim he tried to turn around after making a turn onto Jefferson Street. As he attempted to do so, an unknown black male in a white vehicle drove past him and began shooting at him.

The victim was able to drive himself to the ER where he is receiving medical attention for his injuries. As of Monday, this case is under further investigation by the Criminal Investigations Section of the LaGrange Police Department.
