The Lafayette Society for Performing Arts [LSPA] will present, along with Azalea Storytelling Committee, the seventh annual Donald Davis Storytelling Festival, a weeklong adventure in story discovery and fun.

Davis, a world-renowned storyteller, author and minister will return to LaGrange from July 10 to July 16 to teach the art and skill of storytelling.

Throughout the week, participants will have the luxury of gathering for workshops at Hills & Dales Estate, a long-time partner of the Azalea Storytelling Committee, as well as exploring the lovely pecan grove and the looming gardens. LaGrange College will provide students with comfortable lodging in apartment-style dorms.

Workshop participants will master their already remarkable skills, experience storytelling for the first time, or even explore how the art of storytelling will help them in their professional careers. This year’s class contains 18 students from all backgrounds, including pastors, college professors, retired pilots and teachers, with many traveling from out of state and country to attend this workshop.

The Azalea Storytelling Committee and the LSPA extend an invitation to the public to two upcoming free storytelling concerts.

On Wednesday, July 13, participants of the Donald Davis Storytelling Workshop will be presenting their hard work at the auditorium of the LaGrange College Library from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

As part of the Hills & Dales Founder’s Day celebration, our students will present their stories again on Friday, July 15th, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Pecan Grove. For the Friday session, bring a chair or blanket as the event will be outside.
